New RED Directive has been approved by the Council
The Council of the European Union has approved the new Renewable Energy Directive (RED).

The Council of the European Union has recently approved the new Renewable Energy Directive (RED) which will raise the share of renewable energy in the EU´s overall energy consumption to 42.5% by 2030 and an additional 2.5% to reach 45% to be achieved by all Member States.
Concerning the building sector, the new rules set an indicative target of at least 49% renewable energy share in buildings in 2030. Moreover, targets for heating and cooling will also gradually increase, specifically with 0.8% per year until 2026 and 1.1% from 2026 and 2030.
