Reflections on renovation: advancing Waterschei’s positive energy neighbourhood
The Genk oPEN Living Lab session reflected on challenges in renovating Waterschei, focusing on managing expectations, optimising processes, and navigating complexities, with the goal of advancing its Positive Energy Neighbourhood vision.
In early December, the Genk oPEN Living Lab hosted a session to reflect on the renovation work in the Waterschei neighborhood.
Led by Waldo Galle and Sarah Martens from VITO, the session focused on key challenges: managing citizen expectations, optimising the renovation process, and navigating real-life complexities of inhabited dwellings.
Participants used hands-on methods, breaking down issues into core components and using 3D shapes to visualize relationships. This reflective approach aimed to improve processes and align community goals, ultimately advancing Waterschei’s goal of becoming a Positive Energy Neighbourhood.
The session highlighted learning opportunities for better impact and collaboration.
