Buildings in Rome are accountable for 53% per carbon emissions, hence they represent a major issue which needs to be addressed to reach climate neutrality. The major of Rome, Roberto Gualtieri, stresses the importance of implementing the Renovation Wave and even go beyond with the proposed targets.
The city plans to launch a wave of renovation starting with schools and social housing aiming to making them more energy efficient with solar panels and renovation interventions. The ideal school would be energy self-sufficient, zero-emission and they could share energy to the neighbourhood.
