Signed declaration on European Energy Efficiency Financing

European Commission and Member States signed a Joint Declaration on energy efficiency financing and the European Energy Efficiency Financing Coalition.
Giulia Leghissa

The Commissioner for Energy, Kadri Simson, and EU Energy Ministers signed a Joint Declaration on energy efficiency financing and the European Energy Efficiency Financing Coalition. This aims to spur private investment in energy efficiency, establishing a funding framework for the long term. It's the first step toward forming a coalition involving the Commission, Member States, and Financial Institutions, focused on creating a conducive market for energy efficiency investments and increasing private funding to meet EU energy and climate targets for 2030 and 2050.

The Coalition's legal base is in Article 30 of Directive (EU) 2023/1791 on energy efficiency, aiming to enhance cost-effectiveness of public budget support and sustain private investments in energy efficiency measures.
