The heating and cooling sector uses approximately 50% of the energy in the EU making it important in the energy transition. At the heart of the transition are cities that must ensure citizen indoor comfort. A city has many obligations and knowing where to start and what to do to transition into a sustainable energy system is challenging.
How can cities establish efficient, future-proof energy systems, that are independent from energy imports?
To support cities in making efficient, future proven and import independent investments in district energy an initiative is launched. By applying knowledge from previous research projects, a team models the energy system of cities and provides an implementation plan aligned to both city objectives and taxonomy requirements.
