The threat of "renovictions" on tenants and low-income homeowners

TheRenovation Waveinitiative is pushing towards an increased renovation rate of inefficient buildings across Europe. Although the initiative is necessary to reach climate and energy efficiency targets and it will eventually benefit households, it also conceals a threat. In some areas, renovation policies are causing "renovictions", as retrofits are used as a pretext to raise rents and thus evict tenants and low-income households.
This situation can be solved and avoided by implementing social safeguards to protect the rights of tenants of property owners.
