This year, the European Sustainable Energy Week (EUSEW) returns with a programme brimming with innovative ideas, practical solutions, and strategic discussions on the future of energy in Europe. From emerging policies to cutting-edge technologies, these talks offer both inspiration and essential insights for those building professionals working towards a more efficient, resilient, and liveable environment.
At BUILD UP, we have carefully selected some of the most relevant conferences on energy efficiency in buildings for our audience, which we highlight below.

Wed 11 June | 16:30 – 18:00 | Affordable and Energy-Efficient Homes for All: Breaking Barriers to Affordable Energy Retrofits for Vulnerable Households: This session will explore the main obstacles to accessing energy renovations and suggest inclusive policy and financial solutions, all within the framework of energy justice.
Wed 11 June | 16:30 – 18:00 | Powering up synergies: industrial heat pumps and district heating and cooling for system integration: The session will showcase how industrial heat pumps and district heating and cooling (DHC) systems can enhance energy system integration and flexibility for a stable, resilient, and decarbonised energy system.
Wed 11 June | 16:30 – 18:00 | Digitalisation as a tool to combat energy poverty in cities. This session will discuss how cities and regions can harness digital technologies, including artificial intelligence, to address severe energy poverty. The discussion will focus on inclusive innovative solutions that enhance energy access and efficiency.
Thu 12 June | 09:30–11:00 | From Policy to Practice: Fair and Competitive Implementation of the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD): This session will highlight key tools, EU funding options, and best practices for successfully implementing the EPBD, tackling technical and regulatory challenges while advocating for a fair and digitally innovative energy transition.
Thu 12 June | 11:30–13:00 | Getting to Net-Zero: Supporting the Clean Energy Transition by Decarbonising European Buildings: Leading European real estate associations will examine how non-residential buildings contribute to net-zero emissions, showcasing case studies, standards, and financial mechanisms that promote sustainable investment in the built environment.
Thu 12 June | 11:30–13:00 | Efficient and Healthy Buildings: Balancing Energy Performance and Indoor Environmental Quality: This session will highlight the importance of indoor environmental quality (IEQ) as an integral component of the EPBD, proposing strategies to balance energy efficiency, affordability, and health in residential spaces.
Thu 12 June | 14:00–15:30 | Industrialised Renovation from Factory to Neighbourhood: Leveraging Industry to Scale Up Energy Renovations: Experts from CINEA and the European Commission will investigate the growing market for industrialised renovations in the EU, focusing on modular and prefabricated solutions and strategies to address the challenges that hinder their widespread implementation.
Thu 12 June | 14:00–15:30 | Delivering the Social Climate & Building Plans through Inclusive Planning, Monitoring, and Evaluation: This session will feature real-life testimonies and an interactive panel discussion to examine how to integrate energy justice into National Social Climate and Building Renovation Plans, aiming to foster inclusive planning that ensures everyone is included in the green transition.
