Towards greener homes: A joint commitment to efficiency
The European Investment Bank (EIB) Group and Cetelem have signed a pioneering agreement to enhance energy efficiency in Spanish households. Through a synthetic securitisation valued at €93 million, the initiative aims to mobilise up to €200 million in green financing for residential renovations, small-scale renewable energy installations, and energy-efficient appliances. This strategic partnership aligns with the EU’s climate objectives and promotes more sustainable consumption patterns.
The agreement also places a strong emphasis on social inclusion by directing funds towards lower income cohesion regions. This measure reinforces the EIB’s commitment to equitable development and a fair green transition, in line with its 2024–2027 Strategic Roadmap. Furthermore, it encourages the use of structured financial products to mitigate risk and facilitate capital access for partner financial institutions.
