UK commercial buildings reveal to have high energy efficiency rates

Improved EPC rating of commercial buildings in the UK benefit building owners, occupiers, and landlords.
Giulia Leghissa

Recent building energy ratings in the UK suggest increased energy efficiency in commercial buildings, with notable improvements across various property types and sectors. Revisions in the assessment methodology have led to surprising upgrades, shifting expected F or G ratings to D, C, B, or even A.

This shift is welcomed by building owners, facilitating loan applications and meeting carbon reporting regulations for lenders. Improved EPC ratings benefit occupiers, landlords in compliance with MEES regulation, and landlords seeking tenants with corporate ESG policies. The positive change stems from revised calculations of grid-based electricity carbon content in building assessments.
