These discussions coincided with the European Commission's adoption of the Union of Skills communication, which addresses critical challenges such as labour shortages and evolving skills needs in the construction sector.

The initiative seeks to foster collaboration between industry stakeholders and educational institutions to ensure a skilled workforce for the future. It also underscores the importance of continuous learning and adaptation to new technologies, sustainability practices, and safety regulations.

EBC advocates for enhanced work-based learning, integration of entrepreneurship in VET curricula, and greater involvement of SME associations in defining skills and apprenticeship programs. Efforts to attract young people and women to the construction sector remain a priority.
