From woods to façades

From woods to façades
Can prefabricated façades be quick to install, energy efficient and sustainable at the same time?
INFINITE, an H2020-funded project, explores this topic with the development of integrated timber-base façades with two stakeholders with first-hand experience in building renovation. That is, Žan Pritržnik, CEO of Lesoteka, a Slovenian firm dedicated to sustainable wood processing and manufacturer of the prefabricated façades of the Slovenian demo case, and Gregor Sagadin, of Stanovanjsko podjetje d.o.o., manager of the demo case.
CEO Žan Pritržnik explained their commitment to responsible sourcing from local forests, verified by FSC and SURE certifications. Lesoteka also reduces wood waste through efficient manufacturing and plans to use waste materials like bark and sawdust for new products.
The challenges of offsite building renovation were identified by Pritržnik as site-specific adaptations and maintaining liveable conditions during renovations.
Gregor Sagadin, of Stanovanjsko podjetje d.o.o., discussed the complexities of integrating PV panels and the temporary disturbances caused by drilling for façade anchors.
