Improving energy efficiency in public buildings in Medjimurje county

The Medjimurje county in Croatia has to solve issues with increased energy consumption and consequently high levels of GHG emissions. Medjimurje Energy Agency Ltd. (MENEA) has implemented several projects to improve energy efficiency of public buildings located in the Knowledge Centre Čakovec.

Some of the initial implemented solutions are: 75 kW pyrolytic furnace installation, solar thermal collectors, a calorimeter and a smart metering system for monitoring energy consumption.

With another project in 2022 the building was made energy independent with the installation of a 20-kW solar power plant and air-to-water heat pump with 37 kW nominal power for cooling and heating.
