The REPowerEU has addressed the climate change and the energy crisis challenges by revising EU targets on energy efficiency and renewable energy in order to increase self-sufficiency and resilience of EU economies. 

Buildings and local governments play a key role: It is necessary to increase the pace of energy efficient renovation of buildings (in line with the Renovation Wave) and municipalities must set an example (in line with the revised EED). 

The Czech Republic has currently too low ambitions for energy efficiency, a low rate and depth of renovations, as well as a small capacity in municipalities to respond to growing challenges and prepare appropriate solutions. 

The project aims to trigger a significant upscale of the energy retrofits of municipal buildings in the South Moravian Region by increasing the rate and also the quality of renovations through the creation and operation of a facilitation structure: JINAG Energy Unit.
