SENDER project

SENDER project
In recent years, limited progress has been made to include consumers in demand response solutions development, In particular for individual households demand response. The main reason for this is the rigid structure of current price-based and incentive-based demand response mechanisms. Very few flexibility is allowed on the grids and consumers are not engaged to participate in the development of the solutions. That is why, consumer engagement is one of the main issues of demand response in Europe and why SENDER makes it a priority.
Throughout Europe, energy transition gives a growing place to sustainable energies meaning not only that technologies are more and more environmentally friendly but also that they aim to be adapted to their consumers. That is why, consumer engagement is needed from the very beginning of the energy solutions’ design, up to their implementation.
In SENDER, innovative strategies will be developed to include consumers in the design of the solutions. The innovative solutions will optimise smart systems for demand response, home automation, convenience, and security. During SENDER, external events with multiple stakeholders will be created: co-creation workshops.
By engaging customers in a co-creation process, the project will shift DR from a reactive to a proactive approach. Consumer data will be collected and processed to identify typical consumption patterns, mirror them by digital twins (DTs) based on artificial intelligence technologies and aggregate the DTs' supply/demand characteristics.
