Circularity in construction

A new route to Circular Building Design
Editorial Team

"Creating a Roadmap Towards Circularity" is the new open access book that summarises the research being pursued as part of the COST Action CA21103 titled "Implementation of Circular Economy in the Built Environment" (Circular B). The research focuses on establishing a common circularity framework for both new and existing buildings. The book aims to guide decision-making and assess the implementation of the European Circular Economy Action Plan (CEAP).

The study emphasises the role of government and local authorities in the circular construction ecosystem. Their influence, as regulators and enablers managing infrastructure, is crucial. Government policies, especially public procurement, are instrumental in encouraging circular building design. The study explores also technical solutions for deconstruction, focusing on demountable and reusable steel–concrete composite structures.
