Clean heating and cooling between policy gaps and urgent actions to be taken

The report emphasises the importance of enhanced support from national governments in Europe, stressing the need for swift action to transition to clean heating and cooling systems.
Luca Papapietro

A report by Trinomics highlights an opportunity for the EU and national governments to enhance support for the transition to clean heating and cooling systems, bringing potential benefits for competitiveness and energy security.

While some progress has been made in certain countries, policies lack consistency and strength. Key findings show that half of the studied countries aim to phase out fossil heating, but financial support is limited, particularly for low-income households

Recommendations include phasing out fossil fuels, establishing clean heat standards, and providing financial and technical support. Urgent action is needed to accelerate the transition and prioritise affordable clean heat solutions for all citizens.
