The data have been produced following the governance and operational arrangements set out in statistical legislation and comply with the best practice standards established in the Code of Practice for Statistics.

These figures are derived from information provided by Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs) lodged on the Register. This administrative data is subject to ongoing quality assurance and improvement. They have been released because they are considered to be of immediate value to interested parties and to encourage further user feedback.

The Register does not include records for every dwelling in England and Wales because not all properties have an EPC. Analysis shows that EPCs cover approximately 60% of the housing stock in England and around 55% in Wales, with a similar proportion across all regions in England.
