The EU heat pump goals could significantly reduce our energy bills
A fast implementation of heat pumps in Europe could lead to multiple benefits, such as cutting bills and gas imports, boosting health, jobs and GDP, while also tackling energy poverty.

Accelerating the implementation of heat pumps in the EU can lead to multiple benefits for a diverse range of consumers. For example, research shows that gas demand would drop by 40% between 2022 and 2030 if the installation of 60 million heat pumps in the EU is met by 2030.
Moreover, heating bills of households would fall by 20% by 2030 as, in fact, heat pumps are 30% cheaper to run compared to gas boilers. Nonetheless, currently a new fossil fuel boiler is installed every 8 seconds in the EU.
