The New European Bauhaus implementation at the local and regional level

This study explores the role of local and regional authorities in implementing the principles of the New European Bauhaus (NEB).
Editorial Team

The NEB initiative was introduced by the European Commission to the European Committee of the Regions (CoR) on September 15, 2021. This initiative aims to foster sustainable innovation, technology, economy, and environmental transition through a participatory approach

This study highlights the crucial role of Local and Regional Authorities (LRAs) in executing the principles of the NEB, following the CoR's opinion on the NEB in April 2022. The study also showcases six case studies illustrating the implementation of the NEB at the local and regional levels. Each case study integrates the NEB's core values of sustainability, inclusivity, and aesthetics, along with its guiding principles of participatory, transdisciplinary, and multi-level approaches.
