New study on PDLC Glazing

Detailed optical model of PDLC glazing
Editorial Team

A new paper, "Assessing daylight illuminance and glare risk of Polymer Dispersed Liquid Crystal (PDLC) glazing with Radiance," has been published on the IBPSA website as part of the Proceedings of Building Simulation 2023: 18th Conference of IBPSA.

Filling a research gap in the application of Polymer Dispersed Liquid Crystal (PDLC) glazing in building facades, the study introduces a detailed optical model with advanced Bidirectional Scattering Distribution Functions (BSDFs). This model accurately captures PDLC glazing characteristics.

The paper is a result of a collaborative effort by authors from the Institute for Renewable Energy, Eurac Research, the Faculty of Engineering at the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano, and the Faculty of Environment, Science, and Economy (ESE), Renewable Energy, Electric and Electronic Engineering at the University of Exeter
