Regio1st releases a guidebook to navigate its Planning Framework helping regions in their energy plans

Soon after the release of its Planning Framework, the Regio1st LIFE-CET project is now releasing a guidance helping regional energy planners in Europe to develop and implement sustainable, cost-effective energy strategies while prioritising energy savings in buildings and energy efficiency solutions in line with the EE1st principle.

Roberta D'Angiolella

Regions and cities are crucial to driving the energy transition across Europe, serving as the primary channels for implementing the Green Deal and achieving its climate and energy objectives. These local and regional actors are deeply engaged in on-the-ground energy transition efforts, directly confronting the associated realities and challenges. This necessitates that local and regional authorities closely monitor the application of the EE1st principle and promote methodologies that enable a comprehensive assessment of the broader benefits of efficiency solutions.

Following the release of its Planning Framework, the Regio1st LIFE-CET project is now introducing guidance to assist regional energy planners across Europe in developing and implementing sustainable, cost-effective energy strategies. These strategies prioritise energy savings in buildings and energy efficiency solutions, in alignment with the EE1st principle.

Energy efficiency must be prioritised at all levels of governance, as it is a critical tool for achieving further emissions reductions, aligning with the Fit for 55 targets, phasing out fossil fuels, and enhancing EU competitiveness through the development of energy-efficient technologies. By leveraging the Regio1st Planning Framework, planners can effectively address the complexities of energy planning, formulate strategies that maximise the benefits of energy efficiency and renewable energy, and create a sustainable, resilient, and economically viable energy future for their communities.
