Showcasing syn.ikia Plus Energy Neighbourhoods demo cases

24 February 2025
The leaflet outlines the goals of the syn.ikia project, funded by the EU’s Horizon 2020 program, which aims to create sustainable, energy-efficient neighbourhoods across Europe. It features four demo sites in different climates and integrates both passive and active systems.

The leaflet, available in several languages, outlines the four demo cases of the syn.ikia project, funded by the EU’s Horizon 2020 program, which aims to create sustainable, energy-efficient neighborhoods across Europe. It features four neighborhoods in different climates: Verksbyen (Norway), Loopkanstraat (Netherlands), Gneis District (Austria), and Fondo (Spain).

Each neighborhood integrates passive systems (e.g., high-quality insulation, airtight buildings) and active systems (e.g., solar panels, heat pumps).

Innovations include energy sharing, smart house technology, and community engagement.

The project emphasises low carbon design, renewable energy, and social commitment, aiming to demonstrate the viability of plus-energy neighborhoods.
