Off-site prefabricated hybrid façade examined

Holistic study on hybrid technological solutions from PLURAL project.
Editorial Team

The special issue Special Issue "Multifunctional Façades for Renovation through Industrialization" of the Journal of Facade Design and Engineering features a holistic assessment of off-site prefabricated hybrid façade systems.

Conducted within the PLURAL project, the study delves into the structural, fire, and thermal performance of three innovative hybrid prefabricated façade systems: SmartWall, Denvelops Comfort Wall, and ConExWall.

These systems are “Plug & Play” solutions that can make building renovation quicker and safer. The assessment considers European and national codes to ensure compliance with stringent requirements for structural integrity, fire safety, and thermal efficiency.

The assessment considers European and national codes to ensure compliance with stringent requirements for structural integrity, fire safety, and thermal efficiency. Moreover, the assessment identifies how prefab façade systems can be improved to enhance the performance both in passive and active mode.
