The recently released 2023 edition of  "The State of Housing in Europe" report highlights the crucial role of public, cooperative, and social housing in driving a fair energy transition and addressing the cost of living crisis that is affecting many communities.

While progress has been made, there is still a need for substantial efforts to improve energy efficiency and access to affordable housing. According to the report, while EU resources are pivotal in funding renovation and construction projects, rising costs pose challenges. Measures such as reduced rents and support for energy bills should be taken by housing providers to assist residents in coping with inflation.
