Study on Digital Building Logbook to decarbonise the built environment
The operational and embodied emissions in the construction phase significantly contribute to the built environment's carbon emissions. To achieve EU energy-saving goals and move towards carbon neutrality, changes in design and construction processes are crucial. The EU has proposed regulations, including the concept of a Digital Building Logbook, serving as a centralised repository for building data, including energy efficiency information.
This study surveys elements considered for the Digital Building Logbook's creation, offering an overview of existing research, emphasising the need for technical and methodological changes to achieve energy-saving targets and promote a net carbon-neutral society in the EU.
