This literature review, titled 'Modular Construction in the Digital Age: A Systematic Review on Smart and Sustainable Innovations', highlights the advantages of modular construction, especially when combined with digital technologies, which enhance speed, safety, and sustainability.

The review uses the PRISMA method to explore trends in digital tools, building solutions, and environmental sustainability.

Key technologies like building information modelling (BIM) and internet of things (IoT) are emphasised for sustainability, but there is limited exploration of full-scale automated digital twins and artificial intelligence (AI) in modular construction.

Life cycle assessment and building energy modelling are commonly discussed, but material circularity and off-grid modular buildings require further study.

The review stresses the need for continued research to achieve more sustainable, climate-neutral construction.
