Editorial Team

Energy poverty is a growing issue in the European Union, and the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD) could help address it while supporting decarbonisation goals.

The National Building Renovation Plans (NBRPs) aim to meet EU decarbonisation targets for buildings and protect vulnerable households. Coupled with Social Climate Plans (SCPs), these initiatives can create inclusive policies to support energy-poor communities.

A report by CAN Europe and ECODES, titled 'Planning a fair and ambitious renovation wave', discusses the connection between NBRPs and SCPs, identifying challenges and opportunities for creating socially just renovation policies and reflecting on lessons from past strategies.

It offers policy recommendations for a successful Renovation Wave.
