Introduction to energy poverty and the EPAH
Energy poverty is a growing challenge and civil society not only needs to acknowledge the challenge but also take concrete and effective actions to address it. However, due to the complexity of the phenomena, front-line actors often face a lack of the required experience and capacity to tackle it.
Local and regional governments are in an ideal position to take action against energy poverty (they have a direct dialogue with the citizens and are super-parties with respect to the energy market). EPAH will support local governments, to play an active and significant role in addressing energy poverty by providing learning opportunities to increase knowledge and build capacity on energy poverty.
The "Introduction to energy poverty and the EPAH – Introductory course" is a short course open to all stakeholders interested in addressing energy poverty. It provides an overview of energy poverty from a practical–political perspective. The course is open to all, and no prerequisites are needed.
The duration is approximately one hour and is made up of six lessons divided into three modules, which can be taken individually. Participants that complete all the modules will receive a course certificate.
The course is available in English with subtitles in Bulgarian, Croatian, Czech, Danish, Dutch, Estonian, Finnish, French, German, Greek, Hungarian, Italian, Latvian, Lithuanian, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Slovak, Slovenian, Spanish, Swedish. At the end of the course, participants who have undertaken the entire course will receive a participation certificate.
Registrations to the course are open as of Tuesday, 01 February 2022 and enrollment is possible on a rolling basis. Every 1st and 15th of each month, the registrations will be checked and accepted. The user will receive an automatic notification (via email) with the indications to access the online platform and training course.
EPAH will run two more online courses that will be available at later dates. Each course addresses distinct target groups and requires different levels of commitment.
The "Energy poverty in Europe: From policy framework to integration in local action plans – EPAH compact course" will address mainly decision-makers with the aim to increase knowledge on the political and strategic frame of energy poverty and provide them with the knowledge and insight to design local policies and plans. The course illustrates the European political frame of energy poverty, the social impact of addressing energy poverty and showcases practical examples of initiatives. The course will be available in English as of spring 2022.
The "Alleviating energy poverty: How to implement local actions – EPAH extended course" will address civil servants, technical staff, and practitioners with the aim of increasing knowledge and capacity on practical aspects of energy poverty mitigation and push local actions. The course will offer practical on-the-ground information, including case studies, best practices, available tools, and resources and will be available in English as of spring 2022.
