7th International Conference on Renewable Energy Sources and Energy Efficiency - Energy Security (RESEE2023)

7th International Conference on Renewable Energy Sources and Energy Efficiency - Energy Security (RESEE2023)
Details of the conference
The Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI), jointly with the Ministry of Energy, Commerce, and Industry (MECI) and the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), will be organising a Conference to share best practices for accelerating the deployment of Renewable Energy technologies and highlighting the importance of Energy Efficiency in Cyprus and similar economies, while at the same time emphasising on the significance of Security of Supply and diversifying the energy sources.
The share of Renewable Energy Sources in the total final energy consumption reached 18,42%, in 2021, exceeding the trajectory set in National Energy and Climate Plan (NECP), and having one of the biggest share increase amongst EU countries. Cyprus is currently undergoing a study to reassess its National Energy and Climate Plan (NECP) in 2023.
This reassessment aims to incorporate the updated European policies towards 2030 and 2050, as well as the national obligations that will arise from the new legislative revisions included in the "Fit for 55" and "REPowerEU" packages. It will also consider the latest technological advancements such as energy storage, process heat, hydrogen, electricity in the transport sector, and macroeconomic data. Notably, Cyprus ranks first in the EU per capita in solar penetration.
