Details of the conference
BUILD UP is pleased to announce its upcoming online event, 'Supporting the EPBD implementation: challenges and solutions from policy to practice', taking place on 30 September 2025.
Join leading voices from the European Commission, Member States, and key organisations for a dynamic 90-minute session exploring how the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD) is being translated into practice across the EU. From policy guidance to practical implementation and market readiness, this event will address critical aspects of the transition to a more energy-efficient and sustainable building stock.
What’s on the agenda?
The event opens with two keynote presentations:
- An EU-level perspective from Nina Neumann, Team Leader at DG ENER B3, European Commission, outlining the Commission’s vision for EPBD implementation.
- A national perspective from Marijke De Meulenaer, Coordinator of the EPBD 2024 implementation in the Flemish Region, who will share practical challenges and examples of emerging good practices.
Following the keynotes, a panel discussion will bring together diverse expert insights, moderated by Andrei Vladimir Litiu, Executive Director of the EPB Center and BUILD UP partner. Panellists include:
- Pawel Wargocki, Professor at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU), who will explore how comfort and health must be 'designed in' alongside efficiency.
- Nataša Vistrička, Policy Director at the International Union of Property Owners (UIPI), presenting the viewpoint of residential property owners.
- Jean-Marie Simon, EU Policy Manager at the European Public Real Estate Association (EPRA), who will provide the non-residential owners’ market-readiness perspective.
Gain a deeper understanding of how the EPBD is being put into action across Europe, learn from Member State experiences, and engage with EU institutions and building sector leaders. Please note that the event will be live only and will not be recorded. This format ensures an exclusive opportunity to follow the discussions as they unfold and to put your questions directly to the experts.
