Efficient Buildings Community’s Final Event| From Efficient Buildings to Green Living Areas

05 October 2022
Presential

The event will provide concrete examples of actions and political advice on all the aspects related to the energy issue in the Mediterranean countries in light of the new geopolitical context. The discussion will overcome the traditional sectoral divisions, by proposing a broader, more systemic and more inclusive approach to sustainable development in the Mediterranean basin.

The Efficient Buildings Community builds on the experience of energy efficiency of public buildings in the north shore of the Mediterranean during the past eight years. Now, time has come for the Community to broaden its action in the wider field of green living areas overcoming geographical and institutional divisions.

This networking and learning event aims at:

  • taking stock of the experience the various stakeholders of the Community (national and sub-national institutions, private professionals, etc.) have gathered in the field of energy policies on buildings
  • sharing political and practical advice with and amongst public building owners under the light of new geopolitical conditions
  • providing participants with available tools and discuss scale up around the Mediterranean countries and its closest neighbours
  • overcoming traditional sectoral divisions and propose a broader, more systemic and inclusive approach to sustainability in the Mediterranean basin

The Mediterranean basin is a territory of exchange and friction: both a connecting sea and a frontier between mature economies and developing countries. A fair ecological transition can bring contradictions into unity while turning constraints and disparities into great opportunities for a sustainable growth of the whole area.

Aware of this strategic positioning, the Interreg MED Efficient Buildings Community is organizing its final event along the theme of green living Mediterranean.

A glimpse on the key sessions:

  • Europe calling: How to connect sectors for a green transition in the midst of the energy and climate crisis
  • Fresh visions for Mediterranean energy governance
  • Connecting thematic Communities for a wider impact
  • Networking opportunity: group discussions around the strategic lines new call for proposals
  • Experiment & Exchange: showroom of specific tools
  • Fostering cooperation and creation of greater impact

The event is organized by the Efficient Buildings Community with the contributions from 3 other Interreg MED Thematic Communities: Renewable Energy, Green Growth and Urban Transport.
