EUSEW 2022 | Leveraging digitalisation and construction skills towards 2030 energy goals

The energy transition is the centrepiece of all EU policy plans. This transition to a climate-friendly economy is not a purely national challenge but EU-wide. That’s why the European Commission has introduced the “Green Deal” growth strategy in all policy plans, especially those referring to doubling the renovation rate and one million workers to be brought into the construction industry.

However, the transition policies run the risk of moving beyond that of the people’s capacity to change and to be “equipped” with the necessary skills and knowledge required to implement the necessary actions. And is, the case in the ‘traditional ‘construction sector, where innovation is slower than in other industries. To successfully achieve efficiencies the EU must have an informed, educated, enabled and skilled workforce.
