The construction industry plays a critical role in global greenhouse gas emissions, contributing 37% overall, with significant emissions occurring during both construction and operation. To address this, there is a push for sustainable building solutions, necessitating rapid decarbonisation to meet climate goals

Collaboration with innovative start-ups is essential for scaling new technologies. Holcim, through its venture capital unit, is partnering with firms like Greentown Labs to accelerate these efforts.

Innovations such as zero-carbon cement production, CO2 mineralisation, and carbon capture are promising advancements that can reduce upfront emissions and promote circular construction, aiming for a substantial impact within the next few years.
