On 15 May, the Mazovian Energy Agency held a national Smart Data Hub roundtable in Szczytno as part of the MESTRI-CE project, focusing on the deep energy renovation of public buildings in Poland.

The event brought together municipal representatives, energy efficiency experts, and digital innovators to discuss strategies for accelerating the modernisation of the public building stock in line with the EU’s Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD) and broader decarbonisation goals. Emphasis was placed on the need for coordinated planning, long-term strategies, and the mobilisation of both national and European financial instruments to enable large-scale interventions.

The session presented a structured approach to the full renovation cycle, from energy audits and financial planning to post-renovation monitoring. Participants also addressed the administrative and technical challenges faced by public building managers, highlighting the importance of specialised technical support throughout the process. The roundtable concluded with a clear message: deep renovation of public buildings is not only a climate imperative but also a strategic opportunity to enhance the efficiency, sustainability, and resilience of Poland’s public sector.
