The latest regulation in France, called RE2020, has set ambitious targets to make buildings carbon neutral by 2050. Can an intelligent and smart building help to reach the energy efficiency and performance targets? Yes, but information need to be available and shared throughout the life cycle. This can be done through Building Information Modelling (BIM).

BIM is indeed part of a government plan (Plan BIM 2022) and it is supposed to cover all phases: design, construction and maitenance. However, production and maintenance still need a lot of developments.
