The Clean energy for EU islands secretariat launches its new website

Editorial Team

The Clean energy for EU islands secretariat – an initiative of the European Commission - has launched its new website with the aim of becoming the central platform for the clean energy transition of the more than 2,200 inhabited European islands.

The Clean energy for EU islands website showcases best practices of islands for the clean energy transition. It informs on policy and regulatory issues for Europe’s island communities and provides advice on how to define a transition agenda together with stakeholders and how to implement clean energy projects. The new website includes the following sections:

Islands: Find information on EU islands that have signed the pledge to become carbon neutral and have received technical assistance.

Policies: Regulatory inventory of the Clean energy for EU islands secretariat where you can find the national policy and legislation that supports clean energy transition in European islands.

Assistance: The Clean energy for EU islands secretariat provides capacity building to European island communities. The secretariat supports their transition to clean energy and helps them move from ‘clean energy vision’ to ‘clean energy action’ through technical assistance, webinars and workshops.

Insights: Publications from the Clean energy for EU islands secretariat, podcasts and videos.

Island Marketplace: The Islands Marketplace brings together island communities, project developers, technology providers, investors and financiers to support the implementation of clean energy projects in the islands.

Supporters: Supporting organisations that bring expertise and experience to the EU islands initiative.

News & events: Listing of up-to-date events and news items covering a wide range of topics relevant to the European island communities.
