FACILITA: Facilitating European public building renovation

The EU-funded FACILITA initiative has launched a Community of Practice to support local and regional authorities in delivering faster, greener, and more cost-effective public building renovations across Europe.

A highly energy inefficient building stock is a critical obstacle to Clean Energy Transition in Europe. Therefore, the FACILITA Community of Practice (CoP) provides a structured platform for stakeholders to collaborate, exchange expertise, and implement innovative solutions tailored to regional needs. This network connects municipalities, energy agencies, and practitioners to share knowledge, tools, and best practices for upgrading schools, offices, and civic infrastructure.

Participants gain access to technical templates, funding instruments, and policy updates to streamline renovation projects. The initiative also offers interactive webinars, case studies, and networking opportunities to ensure best practices are scaled and replicated efficiently. FACILITA’s approach reinforces regional One-Stop Shops (OSS), enabling local authorities to navigate complex renovation processes with expert guidance. Through cross-sector collaboration, the initiative accelerates the adoption of energy-efficient technologies and financially viable renovation models.

The FACILITA Community of Practice is open to municipal leaders, energy experts, and provincial councils committed to advancing sustainable public infrastructure.
