Energy flexibility for an affordable renewable transition in Europe
Demand-side energy flexibility measures across Europe would make an affordable transition to renewables in Europe.

An ambitious yet practical implementation of demand-side energy flexibility measures in Europe, as proposed by a study by Danfoss, could reduce average energy bills by 7% by 2030. The study evaluates the carbon and cost savings of electrifying fossil fuel processes and meeting increased electricity demand with renewables.
Demand-side flexibility, involving reducing demand during peak hours, is crucial, with AI-driven technologies in commercial buildings and incentivising energy-efficient practices in homes. Although upfront costs exist, Danfoss forecasts societal cost savings of €10.5bn by 2030, rising to €15.5bn in 2050, offsetting these expenses.
