An energy saving experiment for social tenants
In 2018, the Social Housing Company Mijn Huis (My Home) renovated 30 apartments which were part of two buildings built back in the 80s. The renovation results was not positive as the buildings developed mould and had leakages that ruined them quickly. What solutions could be implemented?
First, it was important to start with a zero-measurement in the dwellings. Through a specific sensor-kit, it was possible to monitor heat consumption, temperature and humidity levels. After this pre-monitoring phase, it was then possible to create the renovation plan which will include the optimisation of wall and roof insulation, the instalment of wall covering insulation at the outside of the buildings.
