Launched in March 2025 and backed by the LIFE Programme, theEuropean Energy Communities Facility is a strategic initiative designed to fast-track the transition to a clean energy model. With support for over 140 community energy projects, the Facility provides early-stage funding, tailored technical assistance, and capacity-building tools. This approach seeks to foster inclusive, citizen-driven energy initiatives that contribute directly to the EU’s climate and energy objectives.

The initiative extends its reach beyond EU Member States to neighbouring countries such as Ukraine and Moldova, ensuring broad and inclusive impact. By offering a single point of contact and a network of national experts, the Facility enhances local engagement and accelerates project implementation. Ultimately, it reinforces the role of energy communities as essential actors in building a sustainable, decentralised, and climate-resilient energy future.
