Energy Vault, in partnership with Skidmore, Owings & Merrill (SOM), is developing gravity energy storage systems.
These systems will be incorporated into high-risebuildings in urban areas, using excess renewable energy to lift heavy blocks. The descent of these blocks will generate electricity.
SOM, renowned for designing the Burj Khalifa, will create buildings up to 1,000 meters tall to integrate this technology.
