The European Commission has officially announced the opening of the first call for proposals under the Research and Innovation (R&I) component of the NEB Facility to support projects that integrate sustainability, inclusion, and high-quality design within the built environment, marking a key milestone for the New European Bauhaus. This new multiannual funding instrument, running from 2025 to 2027, is backed by an initial budget of €118.4 million from the Horizon Europe Programme.
The NEB Facility will support projects that integrate sustainability, inclusion, and aesthetics in the transformation of the built environment. Priority areas include regenerative design, social and affordable housing, adaptable and demountable renovation, and sustainable urban furniture. Half of the budget will be allocated to demonstrator projects that serve as flagship examples of the NEB approach, while the remainder will fund fundamental research and supporting actions.
As part of the launch, the European Commission has organised an online information day and matchmaking event to present the call’s details, address technical queries, and facilitate connections with potential partners. This represents a key opportunity to prepare proposals aligned with the values of the New European Bauhaus, fostering innovative solutions that link the green transition with social cohesion and the quality of the urban environment.
