Editorial Team

In Germany there is a draft law to ban the installation of new oil and gas heaters from 2024 which has sparked a lot of debate.

Currently, there abour 20 million homes in Germany heated with gas which is mainly importanted from Russia. Due to the war between Russia and Ukraine, the cost of this gas has surged. Hence, from this situation, the German government has discussed on how to deal with this energy crisis. The proposal would be to install heating coming at least 65% from renewables in new buildings starting from 1 January 2024. Moroever, this plan would benefit the climate and decarbonisation targets of the country that aims to be carbon neutral by 2045.
