Studies affirm that green roofs provide insulation, absorb rainwater, drastically reduce water bills and minimise the need for air conditioning and heating, providing also biodiversity support.

Challenges include high installation costs and maintenance demands. However, green roofs alone cannot replace essential ground-level natural habitats critical for sustainable urban development amid rapid expansion.
