The U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) and Green Business Certification Inc. (GBCI) have certified that India is the top country in LEED zero projects. In fact, the country has 73 LEED zero certified projects, followed by United States and China.

LEED Zero is a complement of LEED certification, meaning that projects have reached net zero or net positive status in categories such as carbon, energy, water or waste.

Although the private sector is pushing India towards green buildings, the country still has one third of all carbon emissions coming from the building and construction sector.
