Influencing behavioural change for energy savings
In Norway's Viken County, a campaign initiated as part of the ENCHANT project to successfully engage residents in energy-saving efforts. By collaborating with municipalities, the campaign encouraged households to participate in a competition-style initiative, testing various energy-saving tools and tactics. The campaign, which ran for four months, involved 889 participants and utilised six intervention tools, including energy-saving advice and competitive elements.
Results showed that energy-saving tips and competitive motivation were highly effective, leading to substantial energy reductions. The initiative empowered residents to understand and decrease their electricity usage, contributing to individual and climate-related goals. As a result, the municipality of Asker decided to finance the campaign, focusing on in-home energy advisor visits for significant impact.
