A new project, INHERIT, launched in Athens, aims to enhance energy efficiency, sustainability, and inclusiveness in Europe's heritage buildings, 21.6% of which were built before 1945. The initiative, spanning 42 months, seeks to address challenges related to energy, resources, circularity, climate resilience, and accessibility.

ICLEI Europe will conduct capacity-building programs, develop e-learning modules, and collaborate with research partners on innovative solutions. Beyond technical aspects, the project aligns with New European Bauhaus values, emphasising the preservation of aesthetics and social elements. INHERIT will test solutions in eight cultural heritage sites, contributing to a sustainable cultural heritage-built environment.
