The Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) urges both the government and private sector to embrace sustainable building practices and green certifications, like those from the Green Building Council Nigeria. They emphasise the importance of aligning with the Paris Agreement to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2050.

LCCI president Gabriel Idahosa highlighted the construction industry's role as a major resource consumer and emitter of greenhouse gases.

Sustainable practices, including renewable energy and green materials, are critical to reducing environmental impacts. The sector also faces challenges like skills mismatch, which require investment in vocational training.
