New timber-framed student flats in Oxford

Editorial Team

Wright & Wright Architects have won permission to build a development of new buildings and a reworked Victorian villa on the college’s Norham Gardens site to accomodate 128 students.

The buildings will be made by prefabricated, cross-laminated timber load-bearing frame which was locally sourced. Energy will be produced by air source heat pumps and bi-solar green roofs. Moreover, they will follow the Passivhaus standards, whereas the the Victorian house will be retrofitted following some Passivhaus principles.
