Project Sustenance, featured in an episode of 'The EU Energy Projects Podcast' by Enlit, focuses on empowering energy consumers to engage in the energy transition through smart technologies. 

Guest Professor Birgitte Bak-Jensen discusses with host Areti Ntaradimou the project’s emphasis on grid flexibility and its support for energy communities and distribution system operators. 

The project adapts the EU energy grid to renewable sources by aggregating customer demands. It involves research institutions, utilities, municipalities, and private companies, with demonstrations in the Netherlands, Poland, Denmark, and India. 

Bak-Jensen also highlights self-consumption, regulatory challenges, and the importance of citizen involvement.
